What Is It?

Shield Cat 2023, otherwise known as Shield Cat: Chapter 1 Prologue, was a demo sampling of how Shield Cat was gonna be before it was reworked into  Shield Cat: The Lost Conductor. It features 6 areas to explore, packed with secrets and collectibles!

This build represents Shield Cat as it was in August 2023. This game will not receive any updates, though feedback is welcome so we can apply it to Shield Cat: The Lost Conductor.

What Happened?

Unfortunately, the ultimate scope of what this woulda been was too much for us to do by ourselves. After a couple years of not doing anything with it, we're reworking it into a game that's just about Lance rescuing Parker, instead of him exploring the Cat Kingdom like this build sets up.

However, since we're reworking the game so heavily and removing/redoing so much stuff, we wanted to upload this build to archive all the work we had did up to this point. We did a lot of work, and released it as a demo for free, not realizing the scope of what we had made! So, this build is also made available for free, though you can optionally support us if you like.

Since this was a demo build, you'll see the word "Demo"  in various places in the game. However, the scope of the "demo"  is longer than many full games, so you'll find several hours of gameplay here.

What's With The Price?

At the time, we didn't realize the size and scope of the "demo" we had made. There's several hours of gameplay here, so we feel like it's worth the price. However, since we released it for free, you can also just download it for free.

However, if you enjoy it and want to support our future work, consider throwing some money our way!

What Comes Next?

We're reworking the game into a smaller scope! Maybe one day, if Shield Cat: The Lost Conductor goes well, we can make the rest of the game that this build sets up. But for now, it's not meant to be.
