121924 Blobun Patch, Sale, Price Increase
🦝Hello there! Keeping in the tradition of coming out with a build and then having to patch a bunch of bugs, here's a patch to fix a bunch of bugs in the build we put a couple days ago. This build also adds a couple new puzzles too, bringing the count up to 95/120. We're almost there!
I'll get to the patch notes in a bit, but first...
Sale and Price Increase
🦨We've entered Blobun into Itch's winter sale, and it's currently 40% off. This is the last time you'll be able to get it at such a good discount for a while. As for the price increase, we recently held a survey asking players what they think the game should cost, now that it's further in development, as we've been wondering if we were undercharging. As it turns out, a lot of people agreed. The price most people put in, as well as the average price of all submissions (including those that went with $9.99 as well as those who went all the way up to $19.99) also averaged out to around $14.99, so that's what we went with.
With the sale, you can get the game at $8.99, so lower than the price that it was. However, as we work on finishing the rest of the game and putting the rest of the content in, we can't be as generous with discounts going forward (until, you know, it's been out for a while.)
I hope you guys understand! Thank you for supporting Blobun's development, and buying it in Early Access.
Patch Notes
🦝Alright, now that that's out of the way, here are the patch notes:
===== NEW =====
- We added two new puzzles.
===== CHANGED =====
- Water floors will now make a sound and particles when freezing them in addition to unfreezing them.
- On the Stage Select screen, we've made it more obvious when you've beaten a stage.
- A medal has been added to the timer in Speedrun Challenge mode when you've already beaten the Speedrun Challenge.
===== BUG FIXES =====
- The Stage Select screen will no longer play two songs at once, sorry if you liked the sick tunes that created.
- Environmental sounds from the puzzle will no longer play on the Stage Select screen.
- Floor Zappers have been told to relax, and will now only destroy bun instead of also crashing the game.
- Fixed a bug where, if your last move was on an Electric Wire floor panel and you were in the Electric state, the game would just go ahead and push you through regardless and wouldn't process that you've won the puzzle.
- Fixed two different bugs with the Electric Wire floor panel where it wouldn't register an undo state if you stepped on it in the Electric state, and also wouldn't register it if you stepped on it in any other state.
- Fixed Electric Wire floor panels registering two tiles being filled instead of one.
- Coco note: I've added some code that should help the puzzle to stop processing if you've touched all the tiles, so the above stuff doesn't happen again. If the game makes you stop short one or two tiles from winning, let us know!
- Fixed a bug where, on worlds which had stages added to them, the game wouldn't let you play stages that you had already beaten because the internal world progress counter wouldn't update.
- Fixed a bug where Spike Enemies would skip ahead in their animation if you pushed against a Warehouse Box which couldn't be moved.
- Fixed a bug where pushing into a Warehouse Box that couldn't be moved would cause the game to blast you with sound effects.
- Fixed a bug where undoing the puzzle could cause environmental sounds to restart.
- Fixed a bug where undoing ice/water state changes would cause the sound effect to stack and be really loud (they just don't make sound effects now, so as to be consistent with other puzzle elements when undoing.)
- Fixed a bug where beating all the speedrun times in the Tranquility Islands wouldn't show your total time for that world, as the time was the same color as the background.
- Fixed a bug introduced by the newest version of Gamemaker regarding mipmapping, where toggling it at runtime would kill performance (so if you changed the graphics quality to low, the game would run like molasses.) We did it a different way that achieves the same result but without the slowdown.
- [Editor] Fixed a bug where you could make the puzzle too small, crashing the game.
===== KNOWN BUGS =====
- Once in a while, undoing the very first step of the puzzle doesn't affect some puzzle elements, but we're not able to reliably reproduce it. If you figure out a way, let us know, as this causes the puzzle to be desynced!
